On behalf of OAHE, Inc., and the 82 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities we serve, I would like to express our heartfelt thanks for your recent donation. The 100+ pounds of ground venison recently donated will go a long way to help our individuals on limited incomes stretch their already tight food dollars. Many love the taste of wild game and look forward to venison whenever it is available.

Please know that your donation will be put to good use. Please pass along our thanks to anyone who helped make this donation possible. We do let the governor and our legislators know throughout the year of the donations made by Sportsmen Against Hunger. It is truly a wonderful program who helps many in need.

Thanks again for your kindness.

Sincerely, Chuck Quinn Coordinator, Special Projects Oahe, Inc.

The staff and clients of Wiconi Wawokiya, Inc. would like to thank the Sportsmen Against Hunger organization for your generous donation of deer meat.

The meat will help many families. Wiconi Wawokiya is a domestic violence shelter which houses the victims and their children who will benefit from the meat. We also provide food boxes to families on both the Crow Creek Sioux Reservation and the Lower Brule Reservation. We have dry goods and canned goods but until your donation of meat, we did not have meat to put in the boxes so the families could have a complete meal. Your donation will impact many, many families in a good way.

Sincerely, Lisa Heth, Executive Director Wiconi Wawokiya, Inc.

WOW!! Thank you for the goose meat. We had a lady come in today. She really loved it. We greatly appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness in remembering the Tri-County Good Samaritan Food Pantry. So far we heard of people using it for slopping joes and chili. Hopefully we will hear more ideas on how to fix it.

May the Lord bless you.

Sincerely, Penny Ihnen & Sherry Wurtz, Co-Directors Tri-County Good Samaritan Food Pantry Redfield, SD

On behalf of the families of Miner County, the Miner County Food Pantry, and InterLakes Community Action Partnership please accept our thanks and appreciation for the donation of processed game. I have many clients who ask for the wild game. They love it for chili, spaghetti and meatballs, and casseroles. Most of my clients have a difficult time providing meat for their families. Many times they resort to buying cheap hot dogs because they can’t afford anything else.

Thank you again for your consideration of others in need. We would like wish all of you Healthy, Happy, and Blessed New Year.

Sincerely,

Mary Bauer, CSW Miner County Food Pantry & Inter-Lakes Community Action Partnership Howard, SD

Sportsmen Against Hunger:

Thank you very much for the ground deer burger from Sportsmen Against Hunger. We have already distributed the majority of the burger. There was a great need over the holiday season, and we were able to help many, many families on the reservation.

If there is still more available, we have room to take some more. Just give me a call to coordinate the timing.

Thanks again, the burger was much needed and is greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,

On Behalf of the Hot Springs Ministerial Association, I would like to thank you for your donation of wild game to the Hot Springs Ministerial Association Food Pantry.

We have a great relationship with the butcher, Carl Popescu of Black Hills Meat Company, when it comes time for the wild game to be processed, and we appreciate the fact that you help with paying for half the processing of the meat in addition to your donations of wild game.

It is with the help of the churches, businesses, clubs and people like you that we are able to meet the many needs of the people in our community.

For this donation you have received no goods or services.

Thank you and God bless you.

Sincerely,
Joan M. Roe Treasurer

I cannot thank you enough for the fantastic gift of deer burger. We were able to put over seventy pounds of deer burger in our freezer to help feed the club members nightly. The rest was split up between our elder program that feeds our senior citizens daily and our Friendship House that feeds dinner and supper daily to those in need. Your generous gift will be feeding our community for quite some time.

Sincerely,

On behalf of Oahe, Inc. I would like to thank you for your kind help in putting us in touch with the local meat locker in order to obtain donated game through the South Dakota Sportsmen Against Hunger program. We received an initial four hundred pounds of meat followed by another two hundred fifty pounds for a total of six hundred and fifty pounds. All the meat has been distributed to individuals with Developmental Disabilities served by our organization. These individuals are on limited income and rely on programs for assistance such as Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, Food Stamps, Energy and Housing Assistance. Every penny counts for them, and the donation of food was of GREAT assistance in stretching limited food dollars.

Please pass along my thanks to others who may have a role in this program - particularly the GF&P Director, Governor, and the Legislators with whom you may work. This program WORKS for those for which it was intended.

Once again THANK YOU on behalf of Oahe, Inc. and people Developmental Disabilities in Central South Dakota.

Sincerely,

During these cold winter months, we see guests coming that are worried about paying winter heat bills and many looking for part-time work as their seasonal jobs have ended. They are thankful for The Banquet helping stretch their smaller paychecks so they can make it through this time of year, and I sincerely thank you for helping us keep our doors open for them!...

Your generous donation of 850 pounds of venison through the Sportsmen Against Hunger project is very much appreciated. We could not have served all these years without the help of wonderful people like you. God will bless you for caring and believing in the guests of this special ministry. We wish you many blessing in the New Year!

Everyone here at the Kingsbury County Food Pantry and all the people who have been helped would like to say thank - you for your donation.

Just as Jesus comes to us in our need, and just as Jesus shows us mercy in the middle of the sinfulness of the world - we seek to proclaim that same Good News to people who are caught up in a system or hardship that makes even putting food on the table a challenge.

You have helped to continue this ministry, and shared the mercy and justice of Jesus with somebody today!

May the blessings of Jesus continue to be with you, and guide you into ever new adventures of Sharing God's Love!

You have helped lots of people in Kingsbury County. Thank you so much, and may God's blessing be with you today!

I am the director of the Custer Food Pantry in Custer, South Dakota. Our Pantry began benefiting from the SDSAH program three years ago when Jeff Prior of Guys With Knives (local processor and really great guy) enthusiastically promoted the program. The Pantry has been receiving over 3,000 pounds of game meat each year. We have come to depend on this greatly. We have seen a 40% increase of Pantry use over the last two years. When you consider that ground beef will cost us about $3 a pounds this is a donation of over $9,000. Incredible!

I have read literature about eating locally. In the Black Hills we are limited in what we are able to grow in our gardens. But, the local venison supply has been substantial.

I have also been able to personally thank hunters for donating their deer to us. This includes young hunters not only establishing a hunting tradition with their families but a giving tradition in the community as well.

This has been a win-win program. Thank you so much for conceiving of and implementing such a great program.

Sincerely,
Kim Canete, Director

It has been our privilege to receive wild game as the result of the Sportsmen Against Hunger program. Having run the Perkins Co. Food pantries (in Lemmon & Bison) over 25 yrs., I have discovered donations are essential to our success. Meat has always been a very difficult commodity to acquire. Your program of donated deer and antelope has been a God-send. Our clients are always pleased to receive wild game and its availability has helped us supply a need. Just last night, a family commented about how delicious the antelope had been. Did I have any more? This program has been a big help to our Food Pantries and I would encourage you to continue it. It blesses many people.

Sincerely,

Sportsmen Against Hunger I wish to express my sincere gratitude for the assistance of the Sportsmen Against Hunger, and the donation of several hundred pounds of venison in 2009.

Tree of Life Ministry is a Relief Agency and has one of the largest Food Pantries that serves two Lakota Reservations. Todd County, which is the Rosebud Reservation, is the 4th poorest county in the entire USA, with a population of over 10,000 people, while Buffalo County, the Crow Creek Reservation with a population of 2,150 is the poorest. Our ÒWarm WelcomeÓ is open 4 days a week and averages 162 families a day that come for food and clothing. Thus, being open 200 days each year, at an average of 162 families per day. We deliver 32,400 packages of food per year to impoverished families.

In addition, we also used some of your venison for our hot meal program that feeds an average of 175 people per day. That is approximately 35,000 meals per year. Your donation of game meat is greatly appreciated and used to help control the costs of these programs.

On behalf of the staff of Tree of Life, and all those who are recipients of the donated game, I extend my thank. I look forward to participating in your program again this year.

Thank you so very much for your part in providing fresh deer meat to those in need. The Gregory County Food Pantry serves 60-65 families a month for a total of 250-300 people. When you provide the meat, it saves on our money to purchase other needed items.

Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

I am writing to let you know how much I appreciate the deer meat that we get through your organization. Not only am I the Social Service Worker but I also cook a noon meal here at the Salvation Army. I find that I can use the deer meat anywhere I would use hamburger.

Again I thank you for the donated deer meat.

I am writing to thank you for your part in helping to feed those in South Dakota who are struggling to make ends meet. I want to thank you for your organization paying processing costs for the meat that is donated by hunters.

I have the privilege of working with several churches in the southeast region of South Dakota. I have distributed several hundred pounds of meat through those churches, who then passed it on to those in need. Being located in some of the smaller communities, the pastors are aware of those who need help. Also, at least one of those churches feed those who are less fortunate a weekly meal.

We have worked with Steiner's Locker here in Yankton and have found them to be very gracious and cooperative to the point of interrupting their own work to make it easy for me to pick up the meat at my convenience for distribution.

May God continue to bless your work as you minister to those in need.

With much thanks,

I am writing to you today in great appreciation of your fresh meat that was donated to our program by hunters through South Dakota Sportsmen Against Hunger (SAH).

Our program greatly appreciates this distribution, for it has provided fresh meat to many families in need. The large amount we receive from your program has helped our Food Pantry distribute to more families who are in need, which in turn would help these families provide more for things for their families.

Once again we greatly appreciate your generous donation to our Food Pantry. And we thank the South Dakota Sportsmen Against Hunger for all they've done.

Sincerely,

On behalf of the Miner County Food Pantry, I would like to thank you for the generous donations of processed game meat. Fresh meat is probably the single most expensive item on the grocery list. When a client comes in to the food pantry they are pleasantly surprised to see the game meat we put with their food order. Many people resort to purchasing cheap hot dogs to feed their families because they can't afford to buy anything else.

Thank you again for your kindness and consideration of others in need.

Sincerely,
